Typically, No. Modern security sensors use multi sensing technologies that can often distinguish between the movements of humans and our animal companions. Some sensors are also specifically made for locations that need to be pet friendly.

Yes. We always include a battery backup with every alarm system we install. We also recommend an uninterruptable power source (UPS) for all critical infrastructure and devices such as internet modems, routers, switches, etc.
If you are not home when the alarm is triggered, it does not always deter a would be criminal from trespassing, destroying property or taking your belongings. In the event it does not, you need to be made aware and authorities need to be called if you can not get there.
